Thomas Berry came from MD, near the Delaware line, in the spring of 1796. He came with his wife, Rachel Jennings Berry, and 4 children by wagon. The 4 children were Mary, John, Margaret, and Hester. Rachel's grandmother came from Scotland. Thomas's father was a Revolutionary War soldier and of Irish descent. Rachel kept their house as an inn until 1835 or 1838. This info was from the 1875 Tioga Atlas. Also, his daughter Rachel ( child # 5 or later) putchased an inn in Tioga from Benjamin Ives in June, 1797. Thomas also had a son named Thomas.
I'm not sure whether this Thomas (his son) is the one who is listed as a farmer, living on Main St. in Tioga in the atlas. It could have been his son. The atlas was in 1875.
